Escape to deepest rural Essex for a relaxing break, away from the hustle and bustle of urban life. At just over 1 hour from Trafalgar Square it is easy to understand the history to New Amberden Hall. Built in 1670 as a bolt hole during plague ridden London, The Hall stands in its original setting where the nearest neighbour is 1/2 a mile away across the fields. Within 7 miles of busy Stansted Airport access to both domestic and international flights is minutes away.
Ponds Cottage built in the 1950’s and recently refurbished, has all the modern facilities you would need including a house keeping service to make your stay even more relaxing. There are endless walks and nearby footpaths will allow you to explore the local area. We have plenty of grass in surrounding fields should you wish to bring your horse or pony with you. Please contact us to discuss specifics. Locally you have the medieval market town of Saffron Walden. A venerable history with a beautiful market square, church and castle. Steeped in history and lovely tea rooms this is the gem of the area. A little further afield you will find Cambridge and the coast is about 1 1/2 hours due east.

“I stayed in this stunning cottage with a friend over New Year’s Eve and it was absolutely perfect. The location was wonderful, literally in the middle of nowhere – the closest shops were a 10 minute drive away with many friendly pubs, a pharmacy and newsagent which a huge selection of food. We had the honour of seeing deer and various birds in our “back garden” which also led to the most wonderful walks. The interior of the cottage was finished to such a great standard. The two double bedrooms were warm and so comfortable it was difficult to get out bed in the morning! The bathroom had a heated floor which made showering and long baths so much more enjoyable, the kitchen had everything we would need – including a dishwasher! It was such a pleasure to prepare food whilst looking out into the wonderful views. Everything was really thought out in the kitchen, including a welcome present of eggs, bread, butter and most importantly Prosecco! The living room was so cosy, plenty of seating, a large enough TV which didn’t overtake the room and most importantly a wonderful log fire (I think that was my favourite feature in the cottage!) The house keeper met me to show me around the house, she was very helpful and friendly, and super knowledgeable about the area. Communication with the owner was brilliant and we honestly felt so welcome to stay in this stunning accommodation. I think we will be back to visit Ponds Cottage again in the future, I already miss it! Thank you for making our entrance into 2016 so wonderful! ”
